SECULAR MEDITATION - 32 Practices for Cultivating Inner Peace, Compassion and Joy

by Rick Heller via Zoom Tuesdays at 8:30am on zoom

This is a 40 minute reading and sitting meditation practice. Meditation is a form of mental exercise with numerous scientifically verified physical and psychological benefits. As meditation teacher Rick Heller shows, the benefits of the practice extend beyond the personal to enrich relationships with others, with one’s community, and with the world. In Secular Meditation, step-by-step instructions, personal stories, and provocative questions teach empathy for others, stress reduction, and the kind of in-the-moment living that fosters appreciation for life and resilience in the face of adversity. Heller simplifies what is often found mysterious, describing and providing detailed instructions for thirty-two different practices, ensuring that anyone can find the right one.

Please join Saramaria via Zoom for a 40-minute practice with a reading and a 20 minute meditation and discussion.

Praying with the body weekly at West Falmouth United Methodist Church

636 West Falmouth Hwy. (Route 28A)

January to February

Fridays 1/16 to 2/27 at 11am

Praying with the body is a mindfulness practice that incorporates prayers that follows a pattern with an opening invocation, psalm prayer, silent reflection, praying with the body, heart and soul, and breathing practice with gentle yoga poses (to do if you are able). Sitting with the divine presence, living your prayer, contemporary psalm, self-compassion practice and blessing of the body, and a closing prayer ending with breathing with the sound of three bells. This is a gentle, doable way of making prayer more wholistic, going to the Beloved with our hearts and minds and bodies as well. It is an embodied spiritual practice. All four ways of praying are contained in the practice. Verbal, mental, affective, and contemplative-are all embodied in the ritual pattern.

As Love, the Creator has equipped us with everything we need in our journey toward goodness, wholeness, truth and beauty. The Beloved ever-compassionate to all, and faithful in love, is always with us. There is nothing anyone can do to separate from this divine Love.  Therefore, when we pray with our bodies with an awareness of the Infinite loving presence, we embody that Love.
